However, the star / delta connection does not show the effect obtained in industrial motors, in hydraulic lift motors operating in oil. In the transition to the triangle, the engine speed drops significantly due to the absence of a flywheel and the friction resistance of the oil in which it works, and it creates a demurrage current close to direct lifting. The star / delta connection made with contactors also causes short-term high current peaks electrically. Current peaks can also damage other electronic circuits used in the control system. The contactor, which is a mechanical product, has a limited life, works noisy and requires periodic maintenance. Our company performs the start of the motor with electronic Softstarter in high capacity elevators that require large drive motors. The electronic softstarter is mounted on the power-unit instead of the terminal box, and in use, it prevents all the negative effects of contactors.
